The classic primer for absorbent substrates such as canvas, paper and wood. Works as an extra "glue layer" between the substrate and the following paint layers and prevents them from "slipping off". Can be used for both acrylic and oil paint. In most cases, one layer of gesso is enough for acrylic, while two layers are recommended for oil paint. The traditional gesso is opaque white and is used undiluted or can be mixed up to 25% with the help of regular water.
