A design marker is a type of felt-tip pen that is sometimes also called graphic markers, illustration markers or graphic design markers. These markers are popular with illustrators and cartoonists, among others. With design markers, you often get an even and seamless result. You thus avoid "streaks" or stripes from your marker pen.

As with all markers, design markers are filled with ink/paint. The paint can be alcohol based or water based. If you use design markers with an alcohol-based marker, we recommend that you use a non absorbent paper, or a marker paper that is specially adapted to illustrate with design markers on.

Many people think that you have to spend a fortune to acquire design markers in all shades and colors, but this does not have to be the case. Because the paint in your markers is transparent, you can combine different colors with each other and create new shades. So a little color theory can be good for the wallet.
