Painted Graves Vol. I follows Opak and the SDK crew, one of Europe’s most influential train graffiti gangs. After a decade on the tracks, they were forced to stop painting trains in France in 2001. Twelve years later, the SNCF begins scrapping the classic “petits gris” trains – and Opak decides to embark on one last journey to document and paint the legendary trains before they disappear for good.
The book is laid out like a logbook where Olivier Scuro goes back to the early 1990s and tells the story through extensive archival material. There are lots of pictures of paintings by Opak, Inxs, Honet, Pum, Fancie, Riot, Sime, Milk, Poes, Chill, Acid79, Skeme and many more. It’s a mix of urbex, nostalgia, adrenaline-filled missions – and above all, pure graffiti.
