Der Edelstein – Hinterhof. Berlin-based photographer Emmett Edelstein’s third title in his Der Edelstein magazine series, each of which exclusively highlights a specific area. This time, the focus is on Berlin’s often hard-to-reach courtyards and inner courtyards. Since the 2000s, these unusual places to paint have gained popularity with Berlin painters such as SPAIR, DIZZY, KRIPOE, HESHT or DRAMA.
Unlike choosing the most visible street locations, rooftops or even trains, inner courtyards offer a completely different concept.
Over the past 14 years, Emmett Edelstein has visited countless of these places and captured traces of paintings in his unique photographic style. Hinterhof magazine invites us to follow his explorations, and each photo is marked with the street name as well as the month and year it was taken. The 100-page softcover is accompanied by five poems by Stefan Wartenberg and a text by THAKI68. Featured artists include EXOT, CAUSE, 2PAC, LOFK, AKIM, KLOPS, TECHR, ROGER, ROZER, MAGIC, CLINT176, MIKADO, IGIT, BLUFF152, BUS126, EHSO, MR.IX, FISO, ZAUER, PEPS, LES MISERABLES, VOKAL, ZASD, THATZ and many more.
