The New York Graffiti Experience 1976 is a short documentary directed by Fenton Lawless, one of the earliest filmmakers to capture the New York graffiti scene, featuring the work of a number of legendary graffiti artists, including Blade, Billy 167, Comet, and Cliff 159. The latter is interviewed in the film and also contributed the illustrations used for the cover of this edition.
The documentary began in 1974/1975 as a slide show by Fenton Lawless and Justine Dilanni, the film's producer, including original photographs and background music of the song French Fry 97, which was later used throughout the documentary, as well as other music previously recorded in 1974 by Fenton and his band.
The musical styles on this soundtrack vary widely from funk, disco, jazz, rock, folk, and country. All of the music has been previously unreleased, so Unsettled Scores Records is more than happy to release The New York Graffiti Experience 1976 as a 3-track digital album on vinyl, 7-inch and 6-track.
