Speedball Diazo photo emulsion remover 237ml

The photopolymer emulsion is activated with the included Diazo Sensitizer. Fill the sensitizer bottle about 3/4 full with cold water and shake well until the powder has completely dissolved. Stir to ensure that no powder remains at the bottom. Then mix the solution thoroughly with the emulsion and let it rest for at least 15 minutes so that any air bubbles disappear.

The ready-mixed emulsion has a shelf life of about 8 weeks at room temperature or up to 4 months in the refrigerator.

Apply a thin and even layer of emulsion to the clean screen fabric and let it dry completely in a dark space. Then place your motif – for example a print on transparent film – against the frame and expose with a strong light source of at least 150 W. The exposure time varies depending on the lamp power and the distance to the frame. With a 1000 W lamp, a good starting point is about 30–60 seconds, but the optimal time needs to be tested.

After exposure, the frame is rinsed off with a strong jet of water from both sides. If necessary, the motif can be carefully worked out with a soft toothbrush. If all the emulsion is rinsed away, the frame is underexposed and needs a longer exposure time. If the motif is difficult to make out, the frame is overexposed and the exposure time should be shortened. It may take a few minutes before the motif appears completely.

When the screen is to be reused, the emulsion is removed with Diazo Remover / Photopolymer Emulsion Removal (art. no. 174558).
