And you thought turntablism was dead. D-Styles finally brings his technique to DVD, with this live performance recorded at Los Angeles' Knitting Factory. For this special event, he enlists the all star D-Styles Sextet made up of Beat Junkies' Babu, Rhett, J-Rocc, Shortkut, and Melo-D. The group performs selections from the Phantazmagorea album, successfully giving birth to D's horror house baby. Also noteworthy to the performance is the opening act Ned Hoddings. Judging by their performance here, this group, comprised of Excess, Mike Boogie, Toadstyle, and Ricci Rucker, seem primed to take over the skratch school. The concert is well shot, even adding a film reel filter for that old jazz performance effect. Bonus footage includes rehearsals and an additional live performance (D-Styles, Melo-D, and Ricci Rucker). Recommended.
